Estimation of a Neyman-Scott process from line transect data by a one-dimensional K-function

چکیده
We consider the problem of estimating the parameters of a two-dimensional Ney-man-Scott process, from data collected through a line transect survey. Cowling (1998) suggested an estimation method based on a one-dimensional K-function along the transect line. However, her expression for the theoretical K-function was wrong. We develop the correct K-function. We further carry out a simulation study, where we show that the one-dimensional K-function method outperforms a method previously suggested by Hagen and Schweder (1995).

An estimating function approach to inference for inhomogeneous Neyman-Scott processes.
This article is concerned with inference for a certain class of inhomogeneous Neyman-Scott point processes depending on spatial covariates. Regression parameter estimates obtained from a simple estimating function are shown to be asymptotically normal when the "mother" intensity for the Neyman-Scott process tends to infinity. Clustering parameter estimates are obtained using minimum contrast es...

In this paper, a transient, two-dimensional and nonlinear inverse heat conduction problem in solidification process is considered. Genetic algorithm is applied for the identification of the interfacial heat transfer coefficients during squeeze casting of commercial aluminum alloy (Al-4.5wt%Cu) by assuming a priori information regarding the functional form of the unknown heat transfer coefficien...
متن کاملA Generalization of the Neyman-Scott Process
In this paper we introduce a generalization of the Neyman-Scott process (Neyman and Scott, 1958) that allows for regularity in the parent process. In particular, we consider the special case where the parent process is a Strauss process with offspring points dispersed about the parent points. Such a generalization allows for point realizations that show a mix of regularity and clustering in the...
متن کاملAlmost Sure Convergence Rates for the Estimation of a Covariance Operator for Negatively Associated Samples
Let {Xn, n >= 1} be a strictly stationary sequence of negatively associated random variables, with common continuous and bounded distribution function F. In this paper, we consider the estimation of the two-dimensional distribution function of (X1,Xk+1) based on histogram type estimators as well as the estimation of the covariance function of the limit empirical process induced by the se...
متن کاملA comparison of linear transect and capture recapture methods results in Iranian Jerboa population density and abundance estimation in Mirabad plains, Shahreza
During a period from spring 2008 till fall 2010, Iranian Jerboa population abundance was estimated using distance (linear transect) and capture-recapture methods in the Mirabad plains near Shahreza city in Isfahan Province. In the study period, during the active time of the species except reproduction time, we tried to live-trap, mark, release and recapture individuals based on Schnabel method ...
